I became interested in lighthouses over the last few years because of the plight of many of these centennials. Many lighthouses have fallen into decay and some have even been lost forever. I wanted to help bring this problem to people’s attention. I started out looking for the best way to put lighthouses on tee shirts using transfers. In my search for the right answers, I stumbled across images on ceramic tiles, especially murals. Since I’ve started working with lighthouses on tiles, it has opened new avenues of appreciation for these maritime structures. Each one has it’s own personal beauty. Putting images on tiles has allowed me to express myself in an artistic manner that I have not been able to do before. These images have given me a personal satisfaction that words cannot express.
